hi, i just upgraded to kernel 2.6.21 and i have trouble compiling the current nvidia-kernel. So far I tried it with module-assistant. The compiler outputs various warnings and in the linking process ld complains abount a GPL incompatible GPL-only symbol 'paravirt_ops'. any hints ?cahoot, but anyway, one thing is the wifi card driver, for example, i have to load my ac'97 module and another thing is the linux sound system used as alsa or oss. Can i say the latter is the interface used so that user's apps can use the driver?

I'm reading the debian developer guide, and not the man make nor the debian developer guide (as far as i get reading) explains me the diference with make clean and make dist-clean (i supose it depends on the makefile)... What does clean and dist-clean suppose to do, or where can i read the standard about it?one question about shorewall. i have two channels(ch1 and ch2), I have two servers for each channel. primary channel is ch1. now I want that all pakets which goes to 22(ssh) port forward to ch2. how can I do that by shorewall?

let say i have an object A with a member m1 and m2, and a vector of these objects. I need to find which object in the vector has the lower m1, or which object in the vector has the lower m2 per instance. Ive a stupid question Ive a framework that accepts char * to write text with opengl Id like to create a TextField
I've a stupid question, I've a framework that accepts char * to write text with opengl. I'd like to create a TextField class that will handle the wordwrap and so on. The text will need then to be split in lines. Would you recommend a multidimensional char array, or a vector of chars?I have a function foo, and if I set a breakpoint where foo is called, and step into foo, and watch it until execution returns to where foo is called, then step into again _the debugger goes back into foo_. Im writing a heavily threaded app the threads share a stdvector i have a spinlock to protect the vector inserts
im writing a heavily threaded app, the threads share a std::vector, i have a spinlock to protect the vector inserts but do i have to acquire the lock for reading the content as well? would be nice if an insert on the specific index is atomic... the data changes only one time, so i can assume if(!vector[i].empty()) { foo = vector[i]; ... } do i need a lock around that?but it doesn't seem to work. when running my program under gdb, the members of mypair_array seem to be uninitialized (i.e., first=0, second=0 instead of what I was expecting). Any thoughts?

Im now installing a 20070 system after having been on an 05 release on a server I run When I use emerge --info
I'm now installing a 2007.0 system after having been on an '05 release on a server I run. When I use emerge --info, after the USE flags, I get other variables such as ALSA_CARDS, LCD_DEVICES, etc. Since this is a server, I don't have any of those categories of devices on the system. What do these variables affect? So I was thinking - Man it would be really great if I had some kind of indicator as to the status of my current emerge. . then I began to think, Surely I'm not the first to think such a thing. . So here I am. . I was hoping one of you could tell me whether or not such a thing exists? A Progress bar for emerge?

ques, i'm playing around with SPF (anti-spam measures). Anyways due to SPF if I'm out with my laptop I'll have to use my own SMTP server. My mailbox uses IMAP. Anyways, now I have to upload the msg twice, once to my SMTP server and once to the sent items on the IMAP folder. As this is the same server it seems kinda pointless to me. Anyone know of a way to have the IMAP server or something send the msg so it only needs to be uploaded once?hi folks. i just got gentoo installed with some gnome goodies. As i have a dual monitor setup (different resolutions) I'd like to use two different wms on each (ie different xsessions.) I don't want to use xinerama or twinview (on nvidia). exec gnome-session in startx starts two instances of gnome, it seems, one per monitor. How do i introduce another wm to one of the monitors?

Hi all, when running emerge, sometimes the system almost completelty freezes up. All I can really do is move the mouse every few seconds. Clicking on things doesn't work. So... what guarantee is there, that when you use something like this Vala, that the code generated for generics, is subject to things like code folding (on the compiler side) to reduce the bloat caused by template/generics use?no, not really. you're contradicting yourself. You initially said that you could probably get it done in 1 wk, no?
